8 Surprising Uses For Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter can be used in SO many recipes. You can use it in oats, cookies, ice creams, cakes, chocolate, but wait, we’re not just talking about recipes here…

If you want to find out how else Peanut Butter can be used, other than as an ingredient then keep your eyes peeled and read ahead!

#1 Hair Mask

Peanut Butter, believe it or not works wonders on your hair. Massage 3-4 tablespoons onto your scalp (depending on your hair thickness) and leave in from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Rinse out with warm water and gently follow up with shampoo and conditioner. Your hair will be shiny, stronger, and shed less afterwards.

#2 Lubricant

As many of you will already know, Peanut Butter contains oils, which what does oil do? Help to lubricate and eliminate squeaks. Do you have common areas in the house that may need lubricating and don’t have any oil on hand? Well you’re more than likely to have Peanut Butter stashed away somewhere, a tasty and useful tool.

#3 Ant Bait

Now that the warmer weather is here, you may start to see an increase of ants that are brining their territory into the house. Need a quick solution? Mix 3 teaspoons of PB with half a teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of borax. If you find that the ants are eating this, then increase the borax solution. Be careful with pets too, curiosity killed the cat remember!

#4 Leather Cleaner

As well as lubricant, the oils in Peanut Butter are perfect for cleaning leather. All you need to do is dab 1 or 2 teaspoons onto a soft cloth and rub it over the leather in a circular motion. Resulting in one clean and shiny sofa.

#5 Odour Eliminator

Has your dog rolled in something that perhaps it shouldn’t have, and left a terrible stench around the house? Did that new recipe you were trying turn out for the worst and smell like an absolute catastrophe? Fear no more. To get rid of any nasty odours around the house, put 1-2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter in the frying pan and fry for a minute or two.  This should eliminate the odour and leave a lovely nutty smell around the house.

#6 Bird Feeder

Do you have some new friendly guests in the garden who like to brighten your morning with some sweet chirps? Why not treat them with a homemade snack. Cover pinecones with peanut butter, roll them in birdseed and hang them up in your yard. You’ll soon enough hear the praises for this!

#7 Ice Cream Cone Sealant

Okay, so this one might be a recipe, slightly, but it’s too good not to share! Before filling up your cone with ice cream, put 1 teaspoon of peanut butter in the bottom. This will stop the ice cream from dripping AND be a tasty treat once you get to the end.

#8 Shaving Cream

Fear not lads, your night can still go ahead when you’re half way through getting ready and discover you’ve ran out of shaving cream. Smear one thin layer of smooth peanut butter onto your face and shave as you would normally. The oils help the razor to glide and also act as a moisturizer.
